It must be better to know what the issues are likely to be and be able to address them than to idealise, have unrealistic expectations and end up disappointed and resentful.

This is not being pessimistic but is how successful relationships work.

This is a great exercise early on in a relationship. Not being afraid to look at issues will prevent them from becoming a problem or eve a crisis in the future.
